SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Nearly a hundred undocumented immigrants were found inside a tractor-trailer during a traffic stop late Tuesday night.

 

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a trailer with 18 axles was pulled over for a traffic violation along Highway 77 near Raymondville shortly after 10 p.m.

 

During the traffic stop, the back of the trailer was opened, and 88 undocumented immigrants were found hiding inside. Officials said some of the people ho wee inside then climbed out of a hole in the top of the trailer to escape, but all of them were taken into custody.

 

There were 2 immigrants that needed a treatment for dehydration, they are taken to a hospital.

 

Agents with U.S. Customs and Border Patrol. the Willacy County Sheriff’s Office and Raymondville police officers responded to the scene to assist state troopers.

 

The driver and a passenger in the cab were taken into custody by law enforcement. DPS officials said the case would likely be turned over to the Department of Homeland Security – Investigations.
